What are the colored dots?
Each colored dot represents a Bible verse. The dots are positioned in 3D space using a force-directed algorithm that places frequently connected verses closer together.
- • Color: Each of the 66 Bible books has its own unique color
- • Size: Larger dots have more cross-references
- • Brightness: Indicates connection strength to other verses
What are the lines between dots?
The lines (also called links or edges) representcross-references between Bible verses. These are scholarly connections showing when one verse references, quotes, or relates to another verse.
- • Line thickness: Thicker lines indicate stronger connections (higher vote counts)
- • Line brightness: Brighter lines show more frequently cited references
- • Animated particles: Some high-value connections have flowing particles
- • Direction: Most connections are bidirectional (work both ways)
What do "votes" mean?
Each cross-reference has a vote count that indicates how strong or widely recognized the connection is. Higher votes mean:
- • More scholars have identified this connection
- • The relationship between verses is more significant
- • The connection appears in multiple Bible study resources

🏠 Home Button
Click the 🏠 button in the top-right corner to reset the camera to the default view. This is helpful if you get lost in the galaxy!
🔍 Search Function
Use the search bar at the top to find specific verses:
- • Type "Gen 1" to see all Genesis chapter 1 verses
- • Type "John 3:16" for a specific verse
- • Partial matches work too (e.g., "Rom" shows Romans)
📋 Understanding the Right Sidebar
When you click on a verse (dot), the right sidebar opens and displays detailed information:
1. Verse Reference
The top shows the verse reference (e.g., "Genesis 1:1") with the book's unique color.
2. Verse Text
The full text of the verse is displayed below the reference.
3. Cross-References List
This section shows all verses that are connected to the selected verse. Each connection includes:
Direction Arrows:
- → Outgoing: The selected verse references this other verse
Example: If you're viewing John 3:16 and see "→ Genesis 1:1", it means John 3:16 references Genesis 1:1
- ← Incoming: This other verse references the selected verse
Example: If you're viewing Genesis 1:1 and see "← John 1:1", it means John 1:1 references Genesis 1:1
Vote Count Badge:
The blue badge shows the strength of the connection. Higher numbers mean the connection is more widely recognized and significant.
Example: A badge showing "12 votes" indicates 12 scholars/resources identified this connection
Clickable References:
Each reference in the list is clickable. Click on any reference to navigate to that verse and see its connections.
4. Total Connection Count
At the top of the connections list, you'll see something like "Cross-References (26)". This tells you the total number of connections for the selected verse.

🔄 Expanding the Network

Notice how verses from the same book cluster together in similar colors. This makes it easy to identify Old Testament vs New Testament connections at a glance.
📊 Connection Statistics
Check the bottom-left info panel to see how many verses and connections are currently loaded. The percentage shows how much of the total dataset you're viewing (out of 63,779 total connections).

The visualization starts with 5,000 connections for fast loading. As you explore and right-click on verses, more connections load dynamically.
